The Devastating Storm in Carriacou: A Personal Reflection

Introduction: On July 1, 2024, a severe storm struck Grenada, Carriacou, and Petit Martinique, causing widespread devastation. As someone born in Grenada and raised in Carriacou, this event has deeply affected me. I wanted to share my thoughts and some visuals to illustrate the impact of the storm, as well as highlight my advanced sewing and fashion course in Brampton.

The Impact of the Storm: Carriacou, a place I proudly call home, was almost completely destroyed by the storm. The extent of the damage is heartbreaking, and the road to recovery will be long and challenging for the residents. To provide a clearer picture of the devastation, here are two videos showing the aftermath of the storm:

For those unfamiliar with Carriacou, here is a video that captures the island's beauty before the disaster: Before the Storm.

My Connection to Carriacou: Having grown up in Carriacou, this island holds a special place in my heart. The culture, the people, and the vibrant community have all shaped who I am today. Seeing the island in ruins is a stark reminder of the power of nature and the and wonders of Gods.
